What is IEEE?
IEEE stands for Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – as of today IEEE is the foremost technical organization related to electronics, electrical, computer science and all related domains and fields. IEEE’s roles and activities are many but they can be broadly classified into three categories namely
»   Educational Activities
»   Standards Development
»   Publications
Here we are interested in the Publications aspect of IEEE. IEEE organizes many conferences all over the world where the latest technology ideas are presented as papers, and are published in journals and other publications. These papers are collectively called IEEE papers. So essentially each IEEE paper speaks of a new technology innovation / idea / possibility. Since these papers are published by IEEE in its various publications more often than not these papers are of good technical standing. Almost all of these publications are also available online through IEEE Xplore, which is a digital library of IEEE publications.

What is IEEE Project?
Any project that derives its core idea from an IEEE paper is generally regarded as an IEEE project.Having said that one must remember that IEEE papers are very often published after years of research and hence it is practically impossible for BE students or even ME students to exactly follow the work done in an IEEE paper for a final year project. In cases like these where the scope of the IEEE paper is beyond the purview of a BE project or a ME project, the student can take up a part of the paper and implement the same. Alternatively sometimes the scope of a single paper might be too small for a worthy final year project, in which case more than one IEEE papers can be taken as base papers.
One more thing that students are generally confused about is the difference between an IEEE base paper and an IEEE reference paper! Both the terms are self-explanatory because an IEEE base paper is a paper on which the fundamental idea of the project is based on. Whereas a reference paper is an additional paper that deals with some smaller aspect of the project. So typically a project has one base paper and possibly many reference papers. Depending on the nature of the IEEE project, reference papers might be applicable or might not be applicable.

Domains are used to categorize and classify the projects under certain technology. It helps one to identify their interest.
Domains also help to quick search the type and kind of the project. Domain helps to streamline the students who don't have any pertaining knowledge by arranging the applications in a proper hierarchy.
There is always a misconception among student about the domains and technologies and they often tend to confuse one with another.
The technologies are the verticals i.e., columns and the domains are the horizontals i.e., rows. So,the domains (rows) are common for different technologies (columns) and the data in the combination of rowsand columns (cells) varies accordingly.
So the domain names like cloud computing, data mining are common to technologies like Java, DotNetbut their content changes according to the technologies.
We The Sun Technologies being a real time application development company,we are developing IEEE projects in Java Dotnet Android oracle matlab and ns2 in various domains for engineering, ME, and MCA students. We have listed our domains for student’sreference.

Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is the delivery of computing and storage space as a service to a diversified community of end users. It's a general term for delivering hosted services over internet.
Cloud computing is a model for delivering information technology services, whose resources are retrieved from the internet through web-based applications and tools.
Cloud computing is so named because of the information being accessed is found in clusters that are available globally, by which not requiring the user to be in a specific place to gain access to it.

Knowledge and Data Engineering
Database Systems and Knowledgebase Systems share many common principles. Data Et Knowledge Engineering (DKE) stimulates the exchange of ideas and interaction between these two related fields of interest.
DKE reaches a world-wide audience of researchers, designers, managers and users.
The major aim of the journal is to identify, investigate and analyse the underlying principles in the design and effective use of these systems.
DKE achieves this aim by publishing original research results, technical advances and news items concerning data engineering, knowledge engineering, and the interface of these two fields.

Mobile Computing
Mobile computing is the ability to use a computing potential without a pre-defined locality and connection to a network to publish or subscribe to information. It's also stated as "taking a computer and all necessary files and software out into the field".
The form of human-computer interaction by which a computer is expected to be transported during normal usage is usually referred to as Mobile Computing.
It's also a new way of interacting with the computer device and to assist other computing capabilities being present at different mobile location. ”.
The types of mobile computers are
»   PDA - Personal Digital Assistants
»   Smartphone
»   Tablet Computer
»   Laptops and Netbooks
Mobile computing involves Mobile Communication, Mobile Hardware and mobile Software.

A network (Computer Networks) is a telecommunication network that allows computers to exchange data. Physical connection is established between computers either by cable or wireless infrastructure.
The purpose of a network is to enable the sharing of files and information between multiple systems.
A network is a series of nodes interconnected with communication device to enable interconnection between computers.
Computer networks can be connected through cables, such as Ethernet cables or phone lines, or wirelessly, using wireless networking cards that send and receive data through the air.
There are various different kind of topologies and they are likely Bus, Star, Token ring and Mesh. Network also enables the user to share resources such as Printers, Plotters, etc.
